Canada 1 N, AK 2 N
We left Whitehorse around 8:00AM, had a breakfast at a Tim Horton's and
head for the worst part of the Alaska Highway.
Right before Haines Junction we got our worst road so far. Big and small
gravel rocks mixed together and loose. That was a long 20 miles road but
we did it too.
Most of our stops today were under light rain.
We pass a nice campground at Destruction Bay. Next time we have to stay there
at Cottonwood Camp Ground. See the location at the map.
At the U.S. Boarder, which is on the real boards on the contrary for the
Canadian boarder that is about 30 miles before the real boarder we had no
problems but a line with 4 or 5 RVs who took longer specially because was
raining. I don't like to be stopped under a rain, in a motorcycle. Things
start getting wet.
The road to the US boarder is not very well kept. A lot of gravel, mud and
potholes.
As soon as we crossed to US, the road got really better, but, (always but),
when we got some bad ones in US, they were really bad. Holes bigger then
my bike, with no signs to spot them.
Also, I realized that the American road engineers like to make turns when
Canadian engineers like to make straits. Interesting!!
Today we had a problem: Eliane's comm. cable dyed. There is no way we can
communicate with each other and she could not ear the sound system any more.
There is plenty of gas station between Haines Junction and Tok, with 91 available
in more than 50% of them.
Today we got rain almost all day long. We decide to stay in a motel, so the
cost for today was high. (Only the motel was $80). Short day today because
of the holes and the rain.
Tomorrow I will regret that I didn't get gas in Tok...
Temperature today was between 50F and 55F.

That
