Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site Surrounded by lush gardens, the main house at Rosedown Plantation was completed in 1835. |

Daniel Turnbull, a wealthy cotton planter, built the home for
his wife Martha Barrow Turnbull, who developed and nurtured the
extensive garden area. Named for a paly the Turnbulls saw on their honeymoon, Rosedown's grounds reflect the style of French formal gardens the couple observed during their travels. |
