We leave late in the morning, at 9:15AM, from San Bernardino. We took I-10 Freeway, and we could see the mountains with snow at 3500' witch is not normal here at southern California, but it was because the week as a raining week. Almost every day we had rain here, and we almost give up our road trip.

We planned I-10, HW-86 (Salton Sea), I-8, and then I-10 again back home, with one night sleeping in Phoenix.

The log of the trip is at the very bottom.

I-10 Montains with snow

Near Palm Springs with huge engines to produce electricity from air.

Oleics from Palm Springs

This was a terrible picture, but was the only one I have... sorry :(. The GPS shows -160 feet as a altitude(??? altitude? ). We were next to Salton Sea, at HW-86

Salton Sea area has a lot of plantation and all irrigation is done artificialy.

Indio, CA

In all trip we sow only 4 motorcycles. I don't know were they are this weekend... And only one BMW (was a black GS) in one rest area, but the pilot was in a hurry and the just waive for us and went beck to the road.

Indio, CA

In the back you can see Salton Sea. The lake. It received this name because your water is salty then the sea.

Ele fica a uns 70 metros ABAIXO do nivel do mar.

Salton Sea

Another plantation next the the road

Plantacoes ao lado da estrada, totalmente irrigadas. Aqui he deserto, e nao cresce nada que nao seja irrigado artificilamente.

Plantation
Here we are in I-8 East. There is a dunes like in the Saara Desert

desert

A lot of RVs parking and... motocross
... a lot of quadricycles and motocross playing in the dunes. It looks like they are having a lot of fun.(That small black points in the meddle are quadricycles) quadricycle

Some black clouds in front of us

Algumas nuvens de chuva na nossa frente. Sera que vamos pegar chuva???

clouds

The black clouds still there, but now they are going to our left.

Nao foi dessa fez ainda. Aqui elas ja estao indo para o lado.

Rest Area in 10 miles... we have to stop.

Many trains in both directions. The biggest one had 115 cars

This is the famous mount in Phoenix, where some people sow 5 or 6 UFOs years ago... Do you believe that?

Voce acredita neles?

UFOs

Phoenix at 6:00PM. We cannot see too much. Actually, was 7:00PM.

Next morning, in front our hotel. It was a good choice, with a nice Jacuzzi and for $58 we got a big room with a good breakfast.

O hotel onde passamos a noite, a $58.

The road and exits in Phoenix are really nice. This one is the Freeway access, and they keep it very well. Clean and beautiful.

Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. Near Wintersburg, AZ. You can see it from I-10.

The rest areas in Arizona are much, but much, better the in California. Our Cal Trans should take a look on Arizona's job to learn something. They are clean, very well maintened, with all facilities working... perfect.

rest area

This is a unusual view in the roads: on car full loaded, with a lot of luggage on the top. Try not to ride on his tail.

overloaded

Here is our toy. A nice bike, with any problem in all this 880 miles.

A BMW K12LT realmente he otima para viagens longas.

BMW K12LT

An impressive truck, with his tank clean like a mirror.

One balloon, near Quartzite. Also, if you are planning to buy one MotorHome, I sow a lot of them for sale, at this city in the middle of nowhere. ballon

This is the Eagle Mountain Mine. We thought it was a nice place to visit, but when we got there, only ghost houses...

218 miles Yuma - We had lunch here. A not good Denis restaurant, with also a not good food.
363 miles Gila Bend - Gas again. $1.86 and 41.86mpg
511 miles Peoria (after Phoenix) - Gas and sleep - $1.66 and 38.97mpg. This was the worst mileage. I was tired, the speed limit was 75 and the trafic inside Phoenix was bad.
683 miles Blyte - The most expensive gas. I should had filled in Arizona, few miles before... :(
$ 1.94 / 39.41mpg
882 miles San Bernardino, back home - $1.64 / 42.06mpg

The trip timer was 12:02h

The Average speed was 69mph

The maximum speed 120.7mph

We were almost full loaded, with the back trunk full, and both sides half full.I have Bob's Highway pegs, with Kuryakun Adapters, witch make the trip much easier.

Besides the gas station we also stop in 4 rest areas, just to relax.

We had no problems with the K12LT, the external temp was in between 35 and 68 but the engine temp was always quarter down of the meddle bar.
